Join Lockheed Martin Australia’s Verification & Validation Centre of Excellence in a senior specialist role where your expertise will influence some of Australia’s most complex Defence and national security programs.

As a Verification & Validation Engineering Specialist, you will bring deep technical expertise and extensive Defence experience to provide V&V leadership, assurance and strategic guidance across the business. Working across major programs and engineering domains, you will help shape verification strategies, resolve complex technical challenges and influence engineering decisions throughout the system lifecycle.

This is an opportunity for a recognised engineering SME who wants to extend their impact beyond an individual project. You will work with senior technical leaders, customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, while mentoring experienced engineers and helping advance V&V capability, standards and best practice across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

The Verification & Validation Engineering Specialist’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical authority and specialist V&V guidance across complex Defence programs, supporting critical engineering and delivery decisions
  • Lead and assure V&V strategies, methodologies and key artefacts across the full systems engineering lifecycle
  • Guide the resolution of complex system integration, verification and validation challenges across large-scale systems and System-of-Systems environments
  • Provide independent technical reviews and assurance across engineering plans, program reviews, bids, governance and major technical milestones
  • Engage and influence senior customers, technical authorities, program leaders and multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve robust engineering outcomes
  • Shape organisational V&V capability through technical mentoring, thought leadership, process improvement and advancement of engineering methods, tools and practices

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 20+ years of Defence industry experience, with extensive expertise across the engineering lifecycle from requirements and architecture through integration, verification, validation and acceptance
  • Recognition as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more domains such as Systems Architecture, System Integration/V&V, Command & Control (C2), Radar or Communications
  • Demonstrated experience providing senior technical leadership and influencing engineering outcomes across large-scale, complex Defence systems and multidisciplinary programs
  • Deep knowledge of Systems Engineering, Integration and V&V methodologies, with the ability to provide technical assurance and resolve highly complex engineering challenges
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant qualifications and experience
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and mentoring capability, with the ability to engage senior customers, technical authorities and engineering leaders while developing capability in others
  • NV1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
