You will work closely with the Mechanical Structures Product team as a Mechanical Design engineer to shape, model, and draft mechanical ground tactical vehicle components.

Come join Lockheed Martin's Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) team. Our system will travel at Mach 5 (over a mile per second). Helping us build a system that goes that fast means overcoming a number of difficult physics and engineering challenges. You will be integrating hypersonic missile technology into an Army battery on a highly accelerated schedule to support the Warfighter. As a Mechanical Design Engineering Sr., you will perform the following:

-Perform solid modeling using ProE/CREO design tool
- Create associated 2D drafting drawings required to produce/procure hardware
- Develop and maintain product designs and specifications associated with hardware, working with in-house manufacturing, ATLO, procurement, outside suppliers and parts engineering to determine applicable requirements
- Review requirements from various sources (dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of the products
- Work in a product development environment on new designs as well as supporting existing and heritage applications.
- Ability to work with in house manufacturing, ATLO, and outside suppliers to drive them to deliver critical program hardware that meets requirements within applicable cost and schedule constraints

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field-Mechanical design from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
  
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Fundamental understanding of other engineering disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, electronics, systems engineering, etc.
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance; US citizenship is required
• Experience with hardware integration
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience 

Desired Skills

• Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience
• Flight hardware experience
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications, tools, and procedures
• Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation
• Experience with test methods, planning and execution
