Standard Job Description

In this role you will support the Targets and Countermeasures Program as a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the Attitude Control System (ACS) - a team lead responsible for the full product lifecycle of their system and the continued growth and mentoring of their technical team.  For more than 25 years, Lockheed Martin has been building targets with short, medium, intermediate, and long-range capability to represent real-world threats. These targets are used to test missile defense systems and to fulfill specific test objectives. 

 

This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of engineering for Lockheed Martin assembly, integration, and testing of the ACS.  This individual must be comfortable working in a highly dynamic customer environment, be comfortable managing production and design phases, and be able to translate dynamic program needs into an actionable plan aligned with the overall objectives of the program.

 

This position is expected to participate in and support major program reviews and drive program execution across a diverse team.  Additionally, they will: verify, maintain, and track capacity planning; track production readiness across the manufacturing line; support production efforts including integration and testing; support supply chain manufacturing; support obsolescence studies; review implementation of design changes into the production lines, and support production opportunity and risk activities.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with Department of Defense customers, subcontractors, and subordinates.
  • Candidates must have an active Secret security clearance and be a US Citizen.

Desired Skills

  • Team and sub-system leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of propulsion/energetic system design, development, manufacture, and test.
  • Interface experience with subcontract suppliers.
  • Experience with hot-gas attitude control systems (e.g. pulsed or throttleable solid motors and gas generators) and guidance / control interfaces on missiles or interceptors.
  • Hands-on hardware experience with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and respond to problems in a test, production, and operations capacity.
  • Advanced degree in a technical field.
  • Active Top Secret DoD security clearance.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
