Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in Huntsville, AL! In this exciting role, you will:
• Assist the program with proposal preparedness and execution activities
• Assist the program through architectural development and subsequent design reviews to include SRR, PDR, and CDR
• Have the opportunity to work closely with the Program Management team in leading staffing needs for the team
• Help develop timely resolution plans of issues and ensure the validity of designs, compliance evidence, and all associated documentation
• Help to resolve Program execution issues quickly to support leadership needs
Standard Job Description:
Manages the research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Basic Qualifications
• Knowledge of aerospace structures hardware, conversant in other mechanical systems (including flight, ground, packaging, and mechanisms), and organizational processes.
• Experience leading and/or managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Experience leading design efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed design activities
• Fundamental understanding of flight hardware design, integration, and/or test principles
• Top Secret security clearance required prior to start; US citizenship required
Desired Skills
• Experience building key relationships across organizations to achieve strategic and/or tactical goals
• At least 8 years of professional experience in design/development work + leadership experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education
• Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership competencies, including: communicating with positive impact, developing enduring relationships, making effective decisions, delivering value, building organizational talent, and being accountable
• Experience leading hardware development teams
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical drafting standards and techniques
• Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers
• Previous production, operations, CAM, proposal, and/or IPT lead experience
• Willingness to mentor and develop junior engineers
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
