At Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems, our Software Engineers create cutting‑edge, real‑time processing solutions that power the next generation of mission‑critical products. As a member of a collaborative Agile team, you’ll work side‑by‑side with domain experts from hardware, software, subsystems, and systems engineering. Together, you’ll translate requirements into robust architectures, design elegant solutions, write high‑quality code, build comprehensive unit tests, and support seamless integration and long‑term sustainment.
The Scalable, Software-Defined, Supportable S-Band Radar (S4R) software (SW) organization is seeking a Deputy Lead Software Engineer responsible for directly supporting Lead Software Engineers (LSWEs) in leadership efforts including the following:
- Coordinating the planning, organization, integration, and completion of software development projects.
- Coordinating activities concerned with technical development and resolving engineering design and test problems for specific SSR program(s).
- Identifying and facilitating the resolution of SW development blockers.
- Assisting in the development and ownership of software processes and future SW strategy.
- Leveraging proven processes, lessons learned, and best practices from other parts of business or industry.
- Reviewing program estimates and facilitating the collection of regular metrics to inform SW progress and serve as historical basis for future work.
- Supporting overall Agile development process through the planning and execution of Cycle Planning, Cycle Review, Retrospectives, and continuous monitoring throughout the development.
- Providing SW status and plans to program leadership and supporting program level meetings, presentations, and reviews.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering/technical degree
- Minimum 5 years of software engineering or equivalent engineering/technical experience
- Experience leading a team in an Agile software environment
- Experience with planning and executing large SW efforts
- Strong technical leadership skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience supporting program proposals and performing software estimates
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Clearance
Desired Skills
- Experience with Software Development Metrics
- Experience with GitLab, Atlassian Tools, SBOMs, Static Code Analysis, and Releasability
- Experience on Radar focused projects
- Experience building strong customer relationships
