Standard Job Description
As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and governing a site-wide master integrated master schedule (IMS) across our manufacturing facility. Serving as a multi-purposed operational integrator, you will connect individual project managers, capital planning engineers, manufacturing engineering, facilities, tooling, quality, and operations leadership into a sychronized master baseline. You will work closely with project managers and support teams to capture ground-truth timeline details, track critical actions, and uncover task interdependencies to keep high-priority acceleration projects and site initiatives strictly on track.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Site Master IMS Ownership & Maintenance – Build, update, and govern the master multi-project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) in MS Project or enterprise scheduling tools; establish sound logic-linking conventions, monitor float, and maintain schedule baseline integrity.
- Cross-Functional Detail & Action Capture – Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with project managers, facilities planners, equipment engineers, and shop-floor leads to extract task durations, technical handoffs, and resource constraints through regular cadence syncs and site walkthroughs.
- Interdependency Mapping & Conflict Deconfliction – Map complex cross-project dependencies to deconflict shared site resources, such as cranes, plant outages, and contractor footprints.
- Impact & "What-If" Analysis – Continuously analyze critical paths, float, and schedule variances; run predictive "what-if" scenario models when project timelines shift, clearly quantifying and communicating the downstream ripple effects to impacted stakeholders and leadership.
- Acceleration Tracking & Executive Visibility – Develop visual status reports, milestone trend charts, and schedule health dashboards; lead recurring schedule reviews to brief leadership on critical path risks and recovery plans.
- Operational Problem Solving – Act as a multi-disciplined problem solver, bridging functional silos to drive accountability on schedule-driving action items and eliminate roadblocks.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related STEM discipline.
- Experience tracking project milestones, identifying schedule variance/float, and communicating project impacts across cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a proven ability to capture actionable details and drive alignment across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Desired Skills
- Professional experience in an active aerospace, defense, or high-mix industrial manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience building, baselining, and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and critical path logic using MS Project, Open Plan, Primavera P6, or equivalent project scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with capital equipment installations, cleanroom/space-planning moves, or rate ramp/production acceleration initiatives.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, or JIRA.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training or familiarity with manufacturing constraint identification (Theory of Constraints / bottleneck analysis).
- CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) certification.
