We are experiencing growth and are seeking to hire an Opto-Mechanical Staff Engineer to support development and production of a sensor system.
Candidate will support production and continuous improvement of advanced infrared search and track (IRST) sensor programs that provide passive, long-range detection and tracking of airborne threats.
Ownership of precision opto-mechanical hardware will span requirements and design definition through drawing release, supplier coordination, production issue resolution, integration, test, and verification.
The role will require leadership of decisions involving optical alignment, tolerancing, materials, mechanisms, environmental robustness, manufacturability, and affordability for compact, high-performance sensor hardware.
Candidate will provide technical leadership across optical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, analysis, supplier, and customer interfaces, including integrated product team direction and engineering milestones.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace or optical engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Previous precision mechanical or opto-mechanical experience.
- Experience with CAD systems, preferably CREO and Windchill.
- Experience with developing engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100.
- Experience generating and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with optical hardware testing and metrology, preferably interferometry.
- Needs ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance. US citizenship required.
Desired Skills
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, and transitioning precision opto-mechanical hardware for EO/IR sensors or other demanding infrared systems, especially in a production environment.
- Experience aligning optical elements within mechanical structures and performing opto-mechanical tolerance analyses.
- Experience with mechanism design, design for fabrication, cast components, or metal additive manufacturing.
- Experience with production nonconformance review board (MRB) disposition and root-cause-based corrective action.
- Evidence of coordinating multiple concurrent programs and communicating effectively across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120600.00 - $224000.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
