Standard Job Description

The Positioning-to-Win (PTW) Analyst profession requires a self-motivated individual who independently formulates and refines timely market-driven estimates of what a Capture Team must bid to win a competitive pursuit. The PTW Analyst generates price targets and non-price ratings which serve as the design compass for the capture team. This entails collection and data analysis of customer’s needs, values, and award biases coupled with market information such as sales, technology development and method of operation plus anticipated competitor team(s) win and pricing strategy. The analyst must work closely with Capture Teams to remain attune to their activities, and must effectively articulate the PTW to enable comprehensive, situation-based decision making.

Specific roles entail developing detailed customer /competitor analysis, coordinating/leading Black Hat Reviews and developing PTW goals on specific tactical pursuits as well as analyzing long-term positions of customers and competitor trends and determining their impact on LM. This position requires the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful insights, implications and recommendations. It also requires the ability to think critically as well as being able to pay attention to details. Tasks require independent external analysis not biased by internal strengths and weaknesses. It also involves analyzing a wide variety of development approaches, applications, and technologies due to the wide diversity of new business pursuits (both domestic and international).

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the capture process plus current business area products and technologies;
  • Functional domain awareness (finance, engineering, program management), business acumen, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills
  • Strong presentation/communications and interpersonal skills required to facilitate Black Hat Reviews and management buy-in.
  • Competitive intelligence and market research experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Self-starter who seeks stretch opportunities to learn and grow
  • Creative mindset that is comfortable challenging the status quo

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience in Program Management, System Engineering, or Business Development (domestic and international); history of customer and competitor interaction on major defense acquisition programs.
  • Familiarity with the defense acquisition strategies and contracting
  • Financial acumen for developing competitor price models
  • Secret Level Security Clearance

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role. 

  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $131100.00 - $243500.00 
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $118000.00 - $219100.00 
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $104900.00 - $194700.00
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $94400.00 - $175200.00
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Ocala, FL; Lufkin, TX; etc.
