Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data. 
You support the Reliability & Test Engineering team. Our team drives product reliability from concept to field, delivering robust designs, rigorous testing, and data driven improvements that keep Lockheed Martin systems compliant and on schedule 
 
What You Will Be Doing 
As a Reliability Engineering Intern, you will play a hands on role supporting the team’s core reliability activities. Working closely with senior engineers, you’ll apply statistical and AI driven techniques to predict product performance, contribute to FMECAS/FMECA analyses, and help execute life testing and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs. This experience will give you a full cycle view of how reliability data is turned into actionable improvements that keep Lockheed Martin systems safe, dependable, and on schedule 
Your responsibilities will include: 
•    Help prepare Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses 
•    Run reliability growth model scripts (Weibull, exponential) and compare predicted vs. observed data 
•    Use AI techniques to explore predictive maintenance models, anomaly detection, and data mining of FRACAS logs. 
•    Participate in setup, execution, and data capture for accelerated life tests; help calculate required sample sizes for statistical validity 
•    Contribute to creating maintenance strategies based on failure modes and criticality rankings 
•    Pull data from test databases, generate plots/summary tables, and draft short reliability status briefs 
•    Update reliability documentation, maintain traceability matrices, and log actions in the team’s SharePoint repository 
•    Work with engineers, program managers, and customers; present findings in team huddles or briefings. 

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a master’s degree in reliability engineering or related discipline.

• Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations in front of large groups. 

Desired Skills

• Experience with performing reliability predictions and analyses. 
• Experience with reliability FRACAS and statistical data mining. 
• Experience with the FMECA process. 

• Active Secret Clearance 
• Strong electrical background with a good mechanical understanding 
• Practical hands on experience with hardware test and troubleshooting. 
• Analytical thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and innovation. 
• Master’s degree in reliability engineering from an accredited college with 3 years of professional experience.
