We are seeking an experienced engineer who is an subject matter expert in Image and Signal Processing (S/IP) to join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control.  Considered an emerging subject matter expert  The engineer researches, designs, develops and verifies signal and image collection systems, and defines and develops processing and dissemination computer algorithms. Develops requirements analysis, sub-system architectures, and integrates new signal and image processing technology systems. Designs, develops and analyzes systems and algorithms for the extraction of information from signal and image sensors. Technologies applied include: remote sensing; detection and estimation theories; morphological processing; speech processing; neural networks; electromagnetic and acoustic effects on signals; and implementation of signal processing with advanced computer architectures.

Typical IP Engineer tasks may include: 

  • Design, develop, test, and verify embedded algorithms that support unresolved (point-source) and resolved target detection and tracking for missile and fire control products.
  • Develop, validate, and test complex models and simulations that utilize advanced image processing algorithms to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate and analyze system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Opportunities will exist to join or lead teams of engineers and algorithm developers on a variety of different programs that are in various stages of product development.
  • As a SME, candidate will support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Interim Clearance is needed to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
  • Shall be fluent in the following languages:
      • MATLAB, python, and C++
  • Shall have experience solving problems and relevant algorithm development in 5 or more image processing domains mentioned below:
      • match filtering, SNR analysis, image enhancement algorithms, resolved or unresolved target detection, automatic target recognition / identification,  image correction algorithms, synthetic scene generation, clutter rejection, temporal analysis, low signature target detection, hyperspectral image processing techniques
  • Shall demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of:
      •  linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and convolution
  • Shall be proficient in validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections
  • Shall be proficient in implementing and debugging IP algorithms running in a real-time processing environments
  • Have knowledge of electro-optical/infrared detection technology, optics, and principles of radiometry
  • Have knowledge and experience with Modelling and Simulation of EOIR systems

Desired Skills

  • Active Secret /Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses
  • Have experience with deployable AI/ML topologies as they relate to target detection
  • Have strong programming skills that can translate to C++ in a Linux environment
  • Have experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $120600.00 - $224000.00
