The Work
The Owego Configuration and Data Management (CDM) team is seeking a motivated mid-career engineer to join the Platform Engineering Configuration Management organization.  The successful candidate will own the end-to-end configuration and data-management processes for hardware and software products, ensuring accurate baseline control, status accounting, and change-management across the product lif-cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configuration and Data  Management:  Manage product deliveries, baseline control, status accounting, and engineering change review processes.  Process Problem Reports (PRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs); lead PR/ECN board reviews for parts, cable & mechanical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related work products. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Partner with program leaders, engineering teams, and external stakeholders to integrate hardware and software deliverables.  Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and verification/test plans.
  • Verification & Validation:  Support verification activities, and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
  • Process Improvement:  Identify and implement efficiency gains using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Documentation & Reporting:  Produce and maintain configuration documentation, data reports, and audit trails using Microsoft Office Suite and specialized CM tools.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear, concise communication across multidisciplinary teams and present status updates to senior leadership.

Lockheed Martin Standard Job Description: Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.  Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.  Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.  Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. 

 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with change‑control processes and impact analysis across complex systems.

• Hands‑on expertise in configuration management (engineering release processes, product identification, baseline control, status accounting, verification/audit).

• Demonstrated ability to establish and execute efficient, compliant processes for multiple program lifecycle phases. 

• PTC Windchill (or equivalent Enterprise Product Data Management system).• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) – advanced data‑analysis and reporting capabilities.

• Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams – for issue tracking, collaboration, and document management. 

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively on cross‑functional teams. 

• U.S. citizenship with an active Secret security clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Contract Deliverable Requirement List (CDRL): managing deliverable schedules and performing deliveries to the customer.
  • Familiarity with Government contracts or subcontract management.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Hardware Acceptance Reviews and Physical Configuration Audits.
    • As‑Designed/As‑Built documentation.
    • Verification/Audit activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field (already covered in basic qualifications).
  • Experience working with or reviewing design drawings, CAD models, or engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or CAMEO for system‑architecture modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, modify, and optimize processes for integration of AI technologies.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
