Standard Job Description

Performs spray, wipe, brush, or dip, of adhesives or heat application of surface covering to parts and assemblies exercising a complete knowledge of procedures and techniques related to surface preparation.

Performs spray, wipe, or brush applications to aircraft parts, assemblies and interior or exterior surfaces of completed aircraft, exercising a complete knowledge of surface preparations, material application procedures and techniques, tools, equipment, applicable specifications, and safety regulations, where it is required to hold exacting tolerances, working to blueprint requirements or engineering directions. Utilize blueprints to determine masked off areas, stay out areas, materials, and reference documents. Prepares and utilizes test panels to ascertain material thickness.

Sets-up completely and operates robotic equipment used in the application of materials applied to the surfaces of individual parts of varied sizes up to and including a completed article. Position parts/article in predetermined locations in relation to the robotic unit, connects cables and hoses. Select the proper program for the work to be performed and enter the predetermined information into the computer. Mix material to be applied and maintains material level in paint pots. Operates the robotic system and monitors the operations being performed.

Performs rework, modifications and touch up of the level of difficulty of the operations described above.

Performs the above functions on Company premises, and/or at vendor or other off Company locations.

Performs surface preparation by cleaning, stripping, sanding, masking, and similar operations.

Basic Qualifications

Required four years of experience in coatings application including surface preparation, spray, wipe, and other various application procedures.

Desired Skills

Specialty coatings

HVLP 

Aerospace experience

 

Pay Information 

  • $29.67 - $51.44
