The Skunk Works is an integral part of Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics business area responsible for advanced systems development including conceptual design and rapid prototyping of clean sheet solutions and improvements and derivatives to existing systems. The ideal skunk is an agile, multi-faceted teammate who loves to solve our customer's most difficult challenges. A successful manager will oversee a team of ground station engineers engaged in devising practical solutions for challenging problems. Designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight. Establishes structural specifications, performs stress analysis, and conducts performance tests.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to maintain a Top Secret clearance with special program access
- Leadership system experience to include hiring, timecards, performance reviews, counseling, promotions, recognition, training, etc.
- Proven Flight Test experience
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline
- Security+ certification
- Experience in engineering documentation, configuration control and change boards, and systems management
- History interfacing directly with DoD customers
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
