The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

In this role, you'll lead Configuration & Data Management (CDM) activities across Maritime Programs, ensuring engineering information, technical baselines and controlled data are effectively managed throughout the lifecycle of critical Defence capabilities. Working closely with engineering, drafting, compliance and customer stakeholders, you'll provide governance, oversight and technical leadership across Configuration Management activities while supporting contractual, regulatory and customer requirements.

You'll play a key role in implementing and continuously improving Configuration & Data Management practices and tools, helping to drive efficient digital ways of working and strong process discipline. You'll also support audit activities, mentor team members and contribute to the delivery of complex engineering and sustainment programs within a dynamic Defence environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Configuration & Data Management (CDM) activities in line with program, customer and contractual requirements.
• Provide CDM governance, technical leadership and oversight across the program.
• Develop and maintain Configuration Management plans, processes, baselines and supporting documentation.
• Implement and support efficient CDM solutions that enhance digital engineering outcomes and reduce transactional effort.
• Manage engineering data, drawings, models, parts and configuration items within PTC Windchill and associated PDM/PLM tools.
• Ensure hardware and software configuration items are controlled, structured and maintained within approved baselines.
• Coordinate configuration activities across engineering, drafting, project, compliance and customer teams.
• Support configuration control, change management and status accounting throughout the program lifecycle.
• Facilitate customer engagements, configuration reviews, Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and other assurance activities.
• Ensure compliance with export controls, security classifications, intellectual property obligations and sensitive information requirements while producing reports, metrics and dashboards to support program performance.

What You'll Bring

You are a Configuration Management, Data Management, Engineering Governance or related professional who thrives in complex technical environments. You understand the importance of data integrity, compliance and process discipline, and enjoy working across a range of stakeholders to deliver successful program outcomes.

You will bring:

• Experience in Configuration Management, Data Management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Engineering Governance or a related discipline within Defence, Aerospace, Government or complex engineering environments.
• Experience managing engineering data, technical documentation, product structures and configuration-controlled hardware and software items within a PDM/PLM environment.
• Experience using PTC Windchill and/or other enterprise PLM/PDM platforms.
• Proficiency with collaboration and workflow tools such as Jira, Confluence and SharePoint.
• Experience developing reports, metrics and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau or similar reporting tools.
• Knowledge of configuration control, change management, status accounting, governance and assurance processes.
• Experience managing sensitive information, including intellectual property, export-controlled data, confidential information and security-classified information.
• Experience participating in or leading Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) or similar assurance activities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, project and customer teams.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to maintain process discipline, identify inefficiencies and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
