Standard Job Description

Procurement Engineers work to improve the supply chain and reduce supply chain risk to program performance. As part of the Central Procurement Engineering team, this support will span the entire Missiles and Fire Control Supply Chain. This work will be done both independently and in conjunction with program Procurement Engineering teams as required.

 

Responsibilities will include supplier capability and capacity assessments, developing supplier road maps, development and management of risk mitigation plans, rapid response to production disruptions at critical suppliers, affordability initiatives, increasing automation and advanced manufacturing technology in the supply chain, and standardization of Procurement Engineering processes.

 

Additional tasks include participating in or facilitating process improvement or corrective action activities such as controlled builds, production line validation, PFMEA, PO Kickoff, failure investigations/RCCA, etc. Additional tasks include supporting the GSC Operations Tean, contributing to supply chain initiatives and strategy, and educating supply chain partners on Procurement Engineering capabilities and how they can support program objectives.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline

Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors

Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams and discussions to drive results

Project Management Experience

Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Ability to read and interpret drawings and industry specifications

Desired Skills

Background/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or similar field, or equivalent experience/combined education

Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certified

Experience with Process Simulator, SIMIO, or other capacity analysis tools

Risk Management Experience

Statement of Work or Requirements writing experience

Ability to drive process improvements and/or root cause/corrective actions utilizing quantitative analytical methods

Strong understanding of end to end procurement processes, including sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management

Proven ability to support cost-optimizing for affordable, high quality products on schedule and in compliance

Understanding of both FAR and Middle Tier/Rapid Acquisition Pathways

Knowledge of common missile and/or sensor subsystems and supply base

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00
