The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Program or Project Risk Manager to lead and strengthen risk management capability and continuous improvement across LMA’s programs and business growth activities.

Working closely with senior leadership, Program teams, Defence Partners, Quality and Operations, you will provide risk management expertise across Project & Program Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).  Ensuring compliance with relevant Defence requirements and AS/NZS ISO 31000 whilst providing insights into future trends, areas of further mitigation or opportunity for exploitation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead risk management assurance, processes and reporting across LMA programs and enterprise activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk insights into broader project or program planning, ensuring alignment with corporate risk standards and procedures to identify, analyse and treat, with practical mitigations/controls/actions captured for implementation.
• Provide subject matter expertise and develop program risk management capability to support major programs.
• Develop risk metrics, dashboards and reporting to provide clear visibility of risk health and governance and support risk-based decision making.
• Support bids and proposals through effective risk planning, assessment and documentation including the development and management of Risk and Opportunity Management Plans.
• Drive continuous improvement through training, audits, process improvement and the Risk Management Community of Practice.
• Support the implementation and adoption of risk management tools, including Predict Active Risk Manager, @Risk or ERM systems.
• Promote and demonstrate a consistent, proactive risk management culture across the organisation.

What you will bring

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Enterprise Excellence or a related discipline with demonstrated capability at a senior level.
• Significant risk management and governance experience within the Australian Defence sector (ASDEFCON).
• Experience in Project/Program Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management.
• Experience implementing risk, project or enterprise management tools including estimating uncertainty and Monte Carlo Analysis.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Strong analytical, quantitative skills and commercial awareness, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable

• • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent Continuous Improvement qualification.
  • Experience developing and implementing Program or ERM frameworks.
  • Broader project/program management experience across cost, schedule and quality.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) to inform contingency levels, validate inputs, and monitor risk exposure.  Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support risk-based decision making.
