Standard Job Description
❑ Plan and perform complete inspection operations on all prototypes, production, and model change and out of
production transmission, rotor head, gearbox, and power plant systems and related complex dynamic
component and detail parts. Inspections to be performed at various levels of component assembly, from detail
component inspection through final aircraft acceptance in accordance with individual job assignments.
Basic Qualifications
❑ Follow various inspection procedures, complex drawings, check sheets, overhaul manuals, evaluation
documents, field generated directives and other written and oral instructions to perform the most complex and
diversified of test and inspection duties on major component systems and related accessories which include
hydraulic servos, flight controls, power trains, fuel systems, test bed components, etc.
❑ Major component inspection duties include Dynamic Balance and ATP.
❑ Versatility in several major component areas such as transmission, gearbox, rotor head, power plant,
hydraulics, fuel systems, tail rotor, drive train, is essential.
❑ Inspect and evaluate detail parts and components for discrepancies prior to build-up for visual damage such as
nicks, dents, scratches and other surface damage.
❑ Use of standard measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers is required for component
part evaluation.
❑ Inspect and evaluate at all stages of assembly for items such as drag, endplay, static gear patterns as well as
completed assemblies of all major components and accessory items.
❑ Inspect all aspects for completed assemblies of all major components and accessory items.
❑ Work closely with engineering during research and development of new rotor heads, transmissions and related
components to inspect and evaluate new and/or modified major component items from test stands,
experimental projects, prototypes and various experimental aircraft.
❑ Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing representatives and Field Service personnel to resolve
discrepancies and evaluate the reliability of components, troubleshoot malfunctions and ensure compliance
with special and/or unusual customer requests.
❑ Review all paperwork for proper configuration and completeness.
❑ Assure latest component revisions and modifications are incorporated using current technical directives and
Quality Assurance data packages before release of components.
❑ Specific overhaul/remanufacture functions include having detailed knowledge and understanding of all types of
history records to ensure compliance with life limitations, overhaul and repair cycles.
❑ Maintain all historical records of units and record affectivity of all changes
❑ Review and sign all documents and generate return to service tags for military and commercial aircraft
components
❑ Lead and instruct up to 2 other inspectors as workflow demands.
❑ Certification required for the inspection and verification of Flight Safety Parts, all torque applications and
Portable Penetrate Inspection.
❑ Follow all rules/regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
❑ Follow good housekeeping practices

- Must have Top Secret Yankee White Clearance (VH) to be considered for this position.
