Standard Job Description

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Our Mission‑Processing engineers design, develop, and integrate software that powers the flight control, navigation, sensor‑fusion, and communications subsystems of cutting‑edge unmanned aircraft. WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will provide technical leadership for platform-level software supporting ISR and UAS systems. You will drive architecture and design decisions for deployable system images and runtime environments, integrating operating system components, middleware, and platform services. You will analyze and optimize system performance and lead cross-functional efforts across software, systems, and security to deliver reliable, repeatable infrastructure software.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, systems, and infrastructure engineering. You will lead system configuration, service integration, and image build activities while collaborating with engineers across development, integration, and test teams.

 

 

YOUR IMPACT

Your work will enable stable, deployable runtime environments for ISR and UAS platforms. You will help ensure the infrastructure software and system images used across development and test are consistent, validated, and ready for mission-critical applications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and maintenance of deployable system images and platform environments
  • Lead middleware and system-service integration into packaged runtime volumes
  • Own configuration management and system initialization processes
  • Develop and maintain automation for image creation, validation, and deployment
  • Drive integration and deployment activities across lab and test environments
  • Drive architecture, design decisions, and technical direction across platform and infrastructure software

 

Travel up to 10% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience with software development processes, including peer reviews, testing, configuration management, and defect tracking
  • Proficiency in C++, Bash, or Python
  • Experience with Linux operating systems; Red Hat preferred
  • Experience designing and supporting GitLab CI/CD pipelines

 

Must be a US Citizen. This position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Linux/RTOS development environments and toolchains
  • Experience building and debugging Linux-based applications and network configurations
  • Experience developing software for avionics systems
  • Experience packaging software into deployable images or volumes
  • Experience with scripting, automation, and build tooling
  • Experience supporting complex software systems in regulated environments
  • Experience with Agile tools and methodologies, including Git, JIRA, and Confluence
  • Familiarity with MLS, Cross Domain Solutions, and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Current Security+ certification or ability to obtain

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
