Within LM Space, the Charlie Portfolio is looking for a highly motivated Product owner to join a fast‑moving, innovative team that is building a new system.  This role blends hands‑on technical contribution with leadership responsibility: you will actively shape the product’s architecture, write and review code when needed, and guide the Agile team toward successful delivery. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the product, driving feature development, and collaborating across engineering, testing, and release functions. This role offers daily challenges, autonomy in decision‑making, and the chance to gain deep domain knowledge.

 In this position you will:
    • Lead a development team of 7-8 software and systems engineers 
    • Identify, define, and prioritize software features to meet release objectives and ensure feature intent and scope are clearly communicated to the development team and stakeholders. 
    • Participate in design discussions and write/review code, and collaborate with developers on technical implementation, performance tuning, and architectural decisions.
    • Maintain and continuously refine the Agile backlog, prioritizing work and feeding changes into the product roadmap.
    • Track sprint commitments and adjust plans as needed to keep the team on target.
    • Verify that delivered features satisfy all acceptance criteria through manual testing, automated test suites, merge‑request reviews, or documentation checks.
    • Identify process bottlenecks and propose enhancements to increase team velocity and product quality.

 

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.
• Experience with modern technology frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevOps, and data architecture.
• Experience with pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
• Strong understanding of Scrum practices, agile tools (e.g., Jira, confluence), and ability to contribute to sprint planning and retrospective sessions;  comfortable with iterative development and rapid feedback cycles.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams.
• Active Top Secret security clearance required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain either SCI or Special access 
• US citizenship is required to obtain additional government security clearance

Desired Skills

• Previous software Product Owner experience
• Experience working in the Space domain and understanding of Command and Control (C2), Mission Management, Planning and Scheduling, Orbital Mechanics, SSA (Space Situational Awareness)
• Experience with LM’s Horizon and Conductor products 
• Database - MS SQL/Postgres/MySQL

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
