Standard Job Description

Evaluates technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by applying knowledge of material science and related technologies. Reviews plans for new products and factors, such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives. Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials to fulfill product cost and performance standards. Confers with producers of materials, such as metals, ceramics, and polymers, during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree Physics, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college/university. 

Some experience with complex systems or systems thinking through courses, related projects or previous work experience

This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.

Desired Skills

• Experience establishing and implementing
technical requirements (specifications, program
plans/requirements, etc.)

• Experience implementing contamination control
for space applications or related field
• Experience with precision cleaning of hardware
or producing verification products for
government customers
• Knowledge of Materials and Processes for
product development, improvement, design,
application and production"

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72800.00 - $135200.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
