Standard Job Description

The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Geospatial (NGG) team seeks an experienced full-time System Administrator to ensure the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. This role involves coordinating with network administrators, managing user accounts, maintaining system documentation, optimizing performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating storage resources. The position interacts with users, evaluates vendor products, recommends hardware/software purchases, coordinates installations, and implements backup/recovery procedures. Additionally, the incumbent develops and monitors policies and standards for computing resource allocation.

 

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

  • Maintain and operate multi-user computer systems in a classified/air-gapped environment
  • Coordinate with network administrators to ensure system stability and security
  • Set up administrator and service accounts; manage user access and permissions
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and operational procedures
  • Monitor and tune system performance across Linux and Windows server environments
  • Install, configure, and update system-wide software and utilities
  • Allocate and manage mass storage space and storage resources
  • Interact with end-users to assess needs and evaluate vendor products
  • Research and recommend hardware and software purchases
  • Coordinate installation of new systems and software upgrades
  • Implement and test backup and recovery procedures
  • Develop, enforce, and monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation

Basic Qualifications

  • Active SECRET security clearance with ability and eligibility to obtain TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • DoD 8572 qualified certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent)
  • Some experience administering Linux and Windows server environments
  • Proven experience in a multi-user, multi-environment system administration role

Desired Skills

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, or similar hypervisors)
  • Experience with storage systems and platforms (e.g., NetApp, Nimble, or comparable)
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, domain services, and Windows/Linux integration
  • Experience working in classified or air-gapped environments
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
  • Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotation supporting 24x7 operations within a standard 40-hour work week

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
