THE WORK

Position Assignment: System Administrator at Luke AFB

The System Administrator will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the installation, modification, and routine maintenance of training systems in accordance with released modification kits and the Trusted Facility Manual. Key duties include:

• Installation & Modification Management – Schedule and lead system installations and upgrades; verify that all work complies with approved kits and guidelines.
• Verification & Validation – Coordinate and support V&V activities for all installations and modifications, ensuring system integrity.
• Metrics & Anomaly Reporting – Capture performance metrics, document system anomalies, and forward relevant data to the appropriate organizations for analysis and corrective action.
• Geospatial Data Operations – Retrieve map data products from NGA, upload them to MPSE, and maintain data integrity.
• Collaboration & Performance Optimization – Work with cross functional teams to enhance operational performance and configure systems within approved parameters.
• Database Support – Assist DBAs with import, export, transmittal, and receipt of training records, ensuring accurate and timely data handling.
• Customer & Contractor Interface – Serve as the primary point of contact for site personnel, resolving “break/fix” issues, granting approved resource access, and guaranteeing system availability for daily academic operations.
• Compliance & Audit Support – Ensure strict adherence to all approved procedures and guidelines and provide support for internal and external audits.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in system administration for training environments, excellent problem solving abilities, and demonstrated experience collaborating with both customer and contractor stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

• Possess a current final Secret security clearance with a re-investigation with the last 6 years.
• 3-5 years’ experience in Information Technology operations.
• Must be able to obtain Security + CE certification within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a F-35 Program Special Access.
• Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Virtualization, VMWare/Vsphere, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10 Operating systems, event log management, basic networking, Active Directory administration, personal computer applications, data security administration, SAN hardware, database administration.
• Strong oral/written communication skills. Work in a team environment.
Willingness to travel (generally <25%).
• Must be capable of working multiple shifts including some weekends to execute critical maintenance and troubleshooting.

 

Desired Skills

• Experienced as a System Administrator with the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)
• Experience with OMS/MPSE mission planning system.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in aviation simulation and training. (level 2, 1-3 years).
• Experience working in a classified/access-controlled facility.
• Possesses active Security + CE certification or higher.
• Familiarity with F-35 Training systems architecture, implementation, and operations (TMS/LMS).
• Microsoft certified system administrator.
• Experience in Horizon View, HBBS (including McAfee, DLP, HIPS, VSE and ePO), Backup Exec., Database administration, firewall experience.
• Ability to lead and mentor other team members (level 3 and above).

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
