THE WORK
Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented level 2 Systems Engineer-IT with a Secret clearance to work from our Boulder, CO location.

SBIRS and the Next‑Gen GEO OPIR ground stations form the backbone of the United States’ missile‑warning architecture.
By delivering near‑real‑time, high‑confidence detection of ballistic missile launches and other hostile trajectories, these systems provide life‑saving early warning for the warfighter, enable rapid decision‑making, and support cueing of defensive interceptors and command‑and‑control assets. Your work will directly protect troops, allies, and critical infrastructure worldwide.
As Systems Admin you will:
• Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
• Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
• Have experience with both Linux and Windows system administration, including installing, patching, troubleshooting and hardening Linux and Windows operating systems (both bare-metal and virtual machines)
• Have experience with System Security Implementations.
• Interact with users and evaluates vendor products.
• Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
• Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems, and information technology related responsibilities including design, development, and analysis of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications; applying systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that do not perform IT responsibilities, use E146, Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications
| • Security+ Certification • Experience with both Linux and Windows system administration, including installing, patching, troubleshooting and hardening Linux and Windows operating systems (both bare-metal and virtual machines) • Experience with System Security Implementations. • Active Secret clearance is required prior to start and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance |
Desired Skills
| • Proficiency in working with OpenShift and containers • Proficiency in working with AWS Cloud components and services • Proficiency in cyber security and Splunk • Configuration and management of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices • Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability management • Understanding of server hardware, storage systems, and backup solutions • Experience with operational ground systems • Be a team player and work in a collaborative team environment • Desire to work in a fast paced, mission-focused environment • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic • Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly |
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
