Standard Job Description

This College Student role supports the Orion Test Operations Team during university vacations and short‑term breaks while the student is enrolled in an accredited engineering program (e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace, software, or a related field).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with test planning, preparation, and execution for the Artemis program at Kennedy Space Center.
  • Preparing and configuring test equipment, ground support equipment (GSE), and instrumentation.
  • Setting up ground systems, running test scripts, and monitoring vehicle health and status.
  • Contributing to various mechanical, electrical, or software‑focused tasks within the test organization.

The position is hands‑on, in‑person, and operates in a 24 × 7 test environment. Success requires strong problem‑solving abilities, effective communication, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Typically considered a junior.

Basic Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering or related program (e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace, software, or a related field).
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Python and Linux

Desired Skills

  • Experience with test equipment – multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
  • Fundamental understanding of test engineering processes—test plans, procedures, execution—gained through coursework, labs, or short‑term projects.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently while always following approved procedures and coordinating with the broader team.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $24.37 - $28.15

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
