What does this role look like:

This position will support the THAAD Development Program Director as a deputy in managing over 750 employees across three primary Lockheed Martin sites, leading the THAAD engineering services infrastructure and the development of enhanced THAAD capabilities, ensuring resources are appropriately aligned and managed to support successful program execution.  Program Management Director for THAAD Interceptor Development (~$150M/year sales and $100M/year in self investment execution) and deputy to the THAAD Development Program Director (~$400M/year in sales). 

  • The position manages all engineering development scope for the THAAD Interceptor, advancing technology capability, resolving obsolescence and second sourcing. 
  • The position delivers qualified THAAD Interceptor technical data packages ready for high rate production. 
  • The position is responsible for development work that is critical path to $4B/year of THAAD Interceptor production sales.  
  • The position advances THAAD Interceptor capability impacting the weapon systems ability to outpace the evolving threat and competition.

 

In this role you will have the following daily key responsibilities:

• Managing the execution of THAAD development contracts and programs for cost, schedule, and technical aspects.

• Interfacing with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Army customers.

• Overseeing proposal activities for development contracts

• Leading organizational initiatives to increase deployment velocity and efficiency.

Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas.

Basic Qualifications

To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications: 

• Bachelors degree in a STEM or Business field, 
• Possess 10+ years’ experience leading projects, people, and operations for a large multidisciplinary workforce with salaried and hourly represented employees,
• Development Program Management, Missile Hardware and Software Development experience,
• Domain knowledge in Missile Development, Missile Defense, Advanced Electronics, Agile Software Development,
• Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership skills,
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and currently possess and be able to maintain a US SECRET clearance, with ability of obtain Top Secret clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Skills

To be effective, ideally, you should also have:

• Experience maintaining positive working relationships with industry and government customers
• Proven ability to interface with company senior leadership and external customers at all levels
• Strong executive presence,  business acumen, including negotiation and conflict management skills
• THAAD experience, and/or large weapon system level development leadership experience

• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $180000.00 - $325000.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
