Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Media Relations, this position oversees media relations efforts around tradeshows and manages key performance indicators and metrics for the RMS portfolio. This team develops critical relationships and manages interactions with Tier I and trade journalists, acting as RMS spokespeople, developing integrated outreach activities in partnership with other RMS communicators, Corporate media relations, Government Affairs, international communications and other members of the enterprise communications team.

In addition, this position is responsible for managing the relationship with Strategy & Business Development and Finance to ensure continuity around tradeshow and earnings efforts. This position will also be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to bolster RMS’s reputation at domestic and international tradeshows

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide counsel, leadership and direction on trade show media strategy and execution for RMS communications team members, ensuring all deliverables meet the Corporation’s media relations standards and promote a strategic Lockheed Martin story.
  • Collaborate with program communicators and the strategy and business development organization to understand business objectives, recommend engagements, and drive an overarching RMS media outreach strategy aligned to priorities.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson and build effective relationships with news reporters, editors and producers through a variety of engagements, including responding to queries and facilitating interviews
  • Advise executives on external communications and media relations issues and prepare subject matter experts for media engagements through media training and key message development.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between RMS and the Corporate financial communications team and lead RMS communications quarterly earnings efforts.
  • Champion the team in strategic communications activities aligned with high-priority trade shows.
  • Engage stakeholders aligned with identified strategic priorities and goals through credible, measurable communications programs that support business objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven team leadership experience and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and oral communications skills with the ability to convey highly complex information in clear, compelling ways.
  • Excellent strategist with keen creative instincts and expertise influencing leadership thinking in strategic communication, media relations and issues management.
  • Motivated self-starter who performs without appreciable direction and works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Quick study with an attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with contemporary communications trends and industry techniques, including new media.

Pay Information

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role. 

  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $111400.00 - $206800.00 
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $100200.00 - $186200.00 
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $89100.00 - $165500.00
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
  • Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $80200.00 - $149000.00
    • Includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Lufkin, TX; etc.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
